Who is the Mindfulness and Compassion Retreat for?

This retreat is for anyone who feels ready to step out of the busyness of daily life and into a calmer, more supportive space.

You may be feeling tired, under pressure, or simply aware of the need for time to rest and reset. Perhaps you would like to bring more kindness and self-compassion into your life, or find gentler ways of meeting stress and challenge.

You might be completely new to mindfulness, or already have some experience and wish to deepen your practice in a peaceful, natural setting. No previous experience is needed — only a willingness to slow down and take some time for yourself.

This retreat may be especially supportive if you:

  • Are longing for rest, quiet and time in nature

  • Would like to cultivate greater self-compassion and emotional balance

  • Feel the impact of stress or a busy life and want to reset

  • Wish to develop simple, supportive mindfulness practices

  • Value a small, caring and peaceful group environment

  • Want space to reflect and reconnect

Above all, this is a gentle opportunity to step away from daily demands and spend time nurturing your own wellbeing.

What to Expect

Step into a quiet, supportive retreat space dedicated to mindfulness, rest and self-compassion.

With a small group of no more than 12 participants, you will be invited to slow down and settle into a more spacious rhythm, with time to rest, reflect and reconnect with what truly nourishes you. There is nothing you need to achieve and nowhere else you need to be.

Each day includes spaciously guided mindfulness practices — sitting, lying down, gentle movement and walking in the stunning peat bog just steps from the gate. These shared experiences offer a direct exploration of presence, calm and compassionate awareness. Periods of shared silence allow space to step away from constant stimulation and rediscover the restorative power of simply being.

As evening settles, you may choose to unwind with a deeply relaxing sound bath or take part in gentle mindful movement, allowing the day to close with ease.

Everything is optional. You are free to move at your own pace, rest when you need to, and shape the retreat in the way that best supports you. Comfortable chairs, meditation cushions and blankets are provided so you can settle in and feel at home from the moment you arrive.

This is an invitation to pause, breathe and return to yourself — with kindness.

Delicious food cooked with Love

It is our intention to nourish you with delicious, home-cooked vegetarian meals that feed not only the body, but also the spirit. Freshly baked biscuits and cake, along with fruit, tea and coffee, are available for morning and afternoon breaks.

Breakfast is simple and wholesome, with a selection of cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, jams and eggs to start your day gently.

A typical lunch might include homemade butternut squash and carrot soup with a hint of ginger, fresh green and cucumber salads, and warm rolls, followed by homemade cookies.

Evening meals are hearty and comforting. You might enjoy dishes such as vegetarian lasagne with a spinach salad, followed by a homemade dessert such as apple and raspberry crumble with cream.

Wherever possible, ingredients are organic and locally sourced, bringing freshness, flavour and care to every meal.

Early booking is highly recommended

We keep our retreats intentionally small, with a maximum of 12 participants, so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Once your place is confirmed, we ask for a 10% deposit to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due 14 days before the retreat begins. This allows you to spread the cost if helpful, although you are very welcome to pay in full at the time of booking if you prefer.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I look forward to welcoming you to Cabragh Lodge.

Warmly,
Fiona
